The Sequence

• Shut off water, and fuel or power, to the old unit
• Drain and remove the existing water heater
• Prepare connections — water, gas, venting, or electrical
• Position and connect the new unit
• Fill, test, and check for proper operation
• Walk through the system with you before leaving

What Affects the Timeline

Water Shutoff and Testing

The water is off while the old unit is removed and the new one connected. We confirm the planned shutoff window so you can plan your day around it. Once connected, we fill the tank (or run the tankless unit), check for leaks, and verify the unit heats and operates correctly.

Testing isn't a formality — it confirms the installation is sound before we hand the system over to you.

Permits and Inspections

Permit and inspection requirements depend on your property and the scope of work, not on a blanket exemption for like-for-like swaps. Confirm whether a permit applies to your specific installation, who is responsible for filing it, and whether a final inspection is required before the job starts.

The Handover

Before we leave, we walk you through the new system: how it operates, what the controls do, and any maintenance your model needs. You get the model information for your records. That handover is the point where you take over day-to-day operation with everything working.
